The Arizona Cardinals traded for the Carolina Panthers' Robbie Anderson on Monday.

Here are three things to know about the new Cardinals wide receiver.

NFL Week 7 odds:

1. Anderson started his college career as a defensive back and playing special teams

Anderson played at Temple, where he practiced as a defensive back and played some special teams during his red-shirt freshman season.

Then things changed in a major way when Matt Rhule was hired as Temple's coach.

Anderson switched to wide receiver under Rhule, who also was his coach with the Carolina Panthers before he was fired earlier this season, and took off.

In 2013 he had 44 catches for 791 yards and nine touchdowns in 10 games for the Owls, including a record 239 yards in a game against SMU.

After missing 2014 due to academic issues, Anderson had 70 catches for 939 yards and seven touchdowns in 2015.

2. Anderson was not drafted

Anderson was not picked in the 2016 NFL draft, but signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent. He played with the Jets for four seasons, from 2016-2019, catching 42, 63, 50 and 52 passes each year, respectively.

He had 587, 941, 752 and 779 yards, respectively over his four seasons in New York and caught a combined 20 touchdown passes.

3. The Arizona Cardinals are Anderson's third NFL team

Anderson signed with the Panthers in free agency in 2020, reuniting with Rhule, his college coach. With the Panthers, he had 95 catches for 1,096 yards and three touchdowns in 2020 and 53 receptions for 519 yards and five touchdowns in 2021.

He had 13 catches for 206 yards and a touchdown in six games with Carolina this season before being traded to the Cardinals following Week 6.
