Arizona Cardinals follow Kyler Murray, scrub Instagram account

The Arizona Cardinals are following in Kyler Murray's Instagram footsteps.

After the quarterback scrubbed his social media account of all but two photos recently (with much speculation ensuing as a result), the Cardinals social media team has done the same to its account on the platform.

It only has two posts, one from when the team drafted Murray in 2019 and one of photos from the Pro Bowl over the weekend.

Murray's Instagram also only has two posts, the same one from the Pro Bowl and one of him winning the Heisman Trophy while at Oklahoma.

Twitter reacted to the Cardinals' Instagram scrubbing as only Twitter can:

Speculation has surrounded the Cardinals and Murray throughout the week in the aftermath of his social media antics.

Was the quarterback trying to send a message to the Cardinals? Was the scrubbing a ploy to get a new contract?

Several sites even speculated about potential fits for Murray, should Arizona decide to trade the quarterback and odds were even released for his potential next team.

The Arizona Cardinals' DeAndre Hopkins shared his theory on Murray's actions in an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio on Thursday on Radio Row in Los Angeles for the Super Bowl.

“The only thing I can think was because he wanted to show off some new outfits for the upcoming season and he didn’t want you guys looking at the old ones,” Hopkins told Bruce Murray and Rich Gannon.

Perhaps the Cardinals' Instagram scrubbing was just to show that Murray's was really no big deal, that they could do it to their account as well.

Perhaps the speculation will now fizzle out.

Until Murray comes out and explains his social media actions, however, we're guessing that it will continue.
