Mesa police Officer Brandon Mendoza was killed in a head-on collision on his way home from work.

A Mesa police officer who was killed in a collision with an impaired driver on Monday morning will be buried on Friday.

The funeral and procession could cause traffic restrictions for some East Valley residents and police wanted to alert the public to the following road closures:

From 6 a.m. to noon

McLellan Road will be closed from Recker Road to 59th Street. Westbound traffic on McLellan will be forced to detour at Recker, and eastbound traffic will be forced to detour at 59th Street.

From 10 a.m to noon

Southbound traffic Recker Road will be restricted at McLellan and drivers will be forced into the eastbound lanes of McLellan.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The westbound lanes of Baseline Road will be restricted from Gilbert Road to Stapley Drive. Traffic will be forced to detour in the northbound and southbound lanes of Gilbert Road.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Traffic on Harris Road will be restricted from Baseline Road to Juanita Avenue.
