Arlyssa Becenti is an award-winning Diné journalist with over a decade of experience covering the Navajo Nation. Originally from Fort Defiance, Ariz., her clans are Nát'oh dine'é Táchii'nii, Bit'ahnii, Kinłichii'nii, Kiyaa'áanii. Her work encompasses a wide range of critical topics, including abandoned uranium mines and the enduring impact on affected communities, cases related to Murdered and Missing Indigenous People, and the functioning of the Navajo Nation Government. Her awards include a Nina Mason Pulliam Environmental Reporting Award, Arizona Press Club's Community Investigative Reporting Award, and many more. Recently, she joined the Daily Focus team in an editorial capacity. Arlyssa holds a master's degree in investigative journalism from Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism.
